The even more discerning readers will of course, scoff, for obviously the discussion at hand isn't technically about physical divisibility, but more a conceptual argument about language, which is perhaps the heart of the heart of The Tree *. "The Universe was created by Number, by Letter and by Speech" is not the raving of an over-enthusiastic Rabbi of Antiquity, but an astute observation of the nature of reality, or our perceptions of reality, or the manner in which we interact with reality, if indeed that distinction can be made.
The point being that Speech - language - is demonstrative of not the observations of a disinterested observer, but the participation of a vital subject. Utterance does not happen in a void.
Language is Interaction. Whether spoken aloud, communicated through inarticulate grunts and touch in the primal boudoir, or even in the gentle caress of the wind across one's skin or the brutal immediacy of a stubbed toe. Time and space are Number, the Letters of nature are writ large against the night sky, the universe is a conversation.
